Firefly Doll 165 MAX Review: Two Months With Demon Mary
Two months with the Firefly 165 MAX and the Demon Mary head. The softest silicone I've touched, a skeleton that actually holds her up, and two things I'd change.
Bottom Line
The Firefly 165 MAX is the softest silicone I've touched, and two months in the skeleton still holds her up on her own feet. The wig and the modest bust are the weak spots. I paid about $2,500 for my first doll, and I'd 100% spend the extra $500 or so on this one.
How I Got Her
Quick disclosure before anything else. I didn't buy this doll, and Firefly didn't send her to me for a review.
I won her. Firefly ran a global co-creation contest in June 2026: send them your ideal doll and honest feedback about the brand. I did, and I was one of three grand prize winners. The full story and my entry are here. The prize had no strings attached. Nobody at Firefly has seen this post, and nobody asked me to write it.
What I picked: the 165cm MAX body with the Demon Mary head. She arrived September 5, 2026, and she's my second doll. For scale, I'm 5'11". This is what she's like two months later.

Arrival
The box gave nothing away. No branding, nothing that says what's inside, and the label shipped from a US warehouse in California. She came wrapped in something like a sleeping bag inside the box.
One packaging gripe. Some brands screw a metal plate onto the neck post so it can't push against the box in transit. Firefly doesn't. The end of my box had visible dents where the neck post pressed into it. I checked later: no damage to the connector. Still, it's a cheap fix and they should make it.
Out of the box she was oily and had that strong fresh-from-the-factory smell. Both went away after the first wash.
Softness: The Best Thing About Her
This is the headline. The MAX silicone is soft. Not "soft for silicone." Soft.
It's soft at the surface, where the skin feels smooth, and it's soft underneath, where it squishes the way you hope a body will. I wondered if the factory oil was making her feel softer than she really was. It wasn't. After washing she's exactly as soft.
She feels lifelike in a way I didn't expect at this price. If softness is what you care about most, this is the doll.
The skin tone reads properly fair too. When a brand says "fair," this is what you're hoping for.
The Skeleton
Two months in, it's solid.
As I write this she is standing up in my room, on her own, and her feet aren't collapsing. (I won't leave her standing for days. That's hard on any doll's ankles. But she can stand.)
The legs are stiff, which is what you want for standing. The waist is less stiff than I expected. The fingers are articulated.
The joints hold where you put them. Because nothing goes limp on you, she's easier to carry and move than her 75 pounds suggests. You're not fighting floppy limbs the whole time. Cuddling, posing, getting her on and off the bed: no problems, no creaks, nothing loose.
The Demon Mary Head
The face is close to the photos. Good sculpt, good makeup.
The wig was another story. What arrived didn't look like the wig in Firefly's photos, and it was a bit of a mess. It also falls off a lot. Some of that might be me, since I'm new to wigs. But half the time she ends up bald in bed, and I like my girls with hair. I'll be buying her a wig I actually like.
Flaws
When I went over her at unboxing I found no product defects, and no damage to the neck connector despite the dented box.
One design choice gets in the way. The fingernails are large, and they make her hands harder to handle. Check the nail length on the product photos before you order.
What I'd Change
1. Implanted hair. If I could redo the order, I'd want implanted hair. A wig that keeps sliding off breaks the immersion. If it's an option for your head when you order, I'd look at it seriously.
2. A bigger bust on this body. The 165 MAX is a D cup with a 74cm bust, and in person it's modest. I'm 5'11" with normal-sized hands, and it's a three or four finger handful. There isn't much there. The body is built around hips and legs, which is why I picked it. But if you want more up top, look at Firefly's bigger-cup bodies.
A Care Warning: Dark Fabric Stains
I put her in black panties and left her lying on the bed. Afterward there was a little staining on her butt.
That one's on me. Warmth plus pressure against the bed is the worst case for dye transfer, and this is a known problem with silicone. Use light colors, or wash new clothes several times before she wears them. Don't leave her lying in dark fabric.
Verdict
Firefly is a real brand making a real product, and it shows. They clearly want people to know about this doll. That's why they ran the contest.
Buy it if: softness and a lifelike feel are your top priorities, you want a skeleton that holds a pose, and you like a lower-body-focused figure.
Look elsewhere if: you want a big bust on a body this size, or you don't want to deal with wigs.
Where to Buy
Firefly sells the 165 MAX with the Mary head directly, in several makeup and styling versions. Two examples: Mary "Sunday Morning" and Mary "Western Whisper". These aren't affiliate links. We don't earn anything from Firefly sales.
